About Kooyrigs

Kooyrigs’ was founded on the principle of empowering and elevating diverse Armenian voices through community.

On September 28, 2020, Kooyrigs launched their “Looys Program” as a response to the war in Artsakh(Nagorno-Karabakh.) Looys, or ‘light’ in Armenian, began as a grassroots campaign to deliver emergency aid like food, water, medication, sanitary products…etc. to those affected by the war. Under Looys’ umbrella, Kooyrigs also launched Project Mayreeg (‘mother’ in Armenian. ) Project Mayreeg focuses on direct support for displaced pregnant people from Artsakh. Throughout it all, Kooyrigs has remained committed and transparent.

Previous to the launch of the Looys Program, I had followed and admired the work Kooyrigs put in to support diverse groups among the diaspora and as an Armenian-American woman with widespread roots, I could think of no better organization to support through my virtual classes. The work Kooyrigs is doing to rebuild Armenia is truly invaluable.
