      <image:title>About</image:title>
<image:caption>What started as a fitness journey, my yoga story quickly morphed into a way for me to build community. Born and raised in San Francisco by my Armenian mother and Jewish father, I was taught to value culture and community at a young age. It was around this time that I also began playing sports. So it is through sport and heritage that I am based. I carried my sports career through college and graduated having been a 4-year member of the varsity lightweight rowing team. Upon moving to Southern California for work, I found myself looking to fill the community and athletic void that school and rowing left behind. I hadn’t been looking for yoga, but it quickly dominated my self-care routine. I began making friends with other studio goers, creating lasting friendships I’ve carried with me even after relocating to San Francisco. After moving back to San Francisco and rehabing a running injury, I delved back into yoga. Once again I found myself falling in love with its dynamic nature. After just a short period of time I saw the positive effects of a habitual practice and enrolled in my first teacher training, the rest is history... When the pandemic shutdown the yoga studio I was working for, along with the rest of the world, I too pivoted virtual. Today I am 200hr-RYT with a dual certification in yoga sculpt. I teach Power Yoga and Fusion Yoga with 100% of public class proceeds donated to Kooyrigs, a women-led organization providing humanitarian aid to displaced refugees in Armenia.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Kooyrigs - About Kooyrigs</image:title>
<image:caption>Kooyrigs’ was founded on the principle of empowering and elevating diverse Armenian voices through community. On September 28, 2020, Kooyrigs launched their “Looys Program” as a response to the war in Artsakh(Nagorno-Karabakh.) Looys, or ‘light’ in Armenian, began as a grassroots campaign to deliver emergency aid like food, water, medication, sanitary products…etc. to those affected by the war. Under Looys’ umbrella, Kooyrigs also launched Project Mayreeg (‘mother’ in Armenian. ) Project Mayreeg focuses on direct support for displaced pregnant people from Artsakh. Throughout it all, Kooyrigs has remained committed and transparent. Previous to the launch of the Looys Program, I had followed and admired the work Kooyrigs put in to support diverse groups among the diaspora and as an Armenian-American woman with widespread roots, I could think of no better organization to support through my virtual classes. The work Kooyrigs is doing to rebuild Armenia is truly invaluable. Image c/o Kooyrigs</image:caption>

      <image:title>Kooyrigs - Mission</image:title>
<image:caption>Focusing on both the country of Armenia and the diaspora, Kooyrigs set out to work towards gender equality and human rights. Kooyrigs utilizes social media platforms to connect and build community, drive awareness, and fundraise. By launching community projects, implementing educational initiatives and amplifying marginalized voices, Kooyrigs provides resources to the global Armenian network Kooyrigs intentionally designs safe-spaces to further connection and encourage conversation on global Armenian topics. Kooyrigs is committed to spreading accurate information and supporting local economies thus transparency is paramount. Image c/o Kooyrigs</image:caption>

      <image:title>Kooyrigs - Looys Program + Project Mayreeg</image:title>
<image:caption>Kooyrigs’ two main initiatives in response to the war in Artsakh have been the Looys Program and Project Mayreeg. Looys Looys delivers aid to displaced people of Artsakh by supplying medication, winter clothes, household essentials and fresh, locally sourced food to displaced communities currently residing all across Armenia. Mayreeg Project Mayreeg connects expecting mothers to doctors, providing transportation and companionship to appointments, sponsoring antenatal classes, providing supplements, medication, and more.
